Ko ona tipuna e whakahuihui nei i tona whakapapa ki a Ngati Pahauwera o naianei, ko Mehaka Tumataroa, ko Maata Te Maapara, ko Ihipera O’Keefe ratau ko Ropotini Tiopira. Ko ona karangatanga hapu ko Ngati Kurahikakawa, Ngai Tatua, Ngai Tuhemata me Ngati Kukura.

Chaans is married to Michelle (nee’ Brown.) He was born in Hastings to Okeroa Tumataroa and Priscilla Clarke; where by virtue of whakapapa is affiliated to Iwi including Ngati Kahungunu, Ngati Porou, Te Arawa, Nga Puhi and Ngai Tahu. He was raised at Huramua by his grandfather Guy Tumataroa with the Waihua and Mohaka rohe’ featuring prominently in his childhood. Chaans was schooled at Turiroa School and then went on to Wairoa College.

A background in the Haahi Mihinare (Maori Anglican Church) has seen him encounter a lot of Pahauwera whanau, having served them both at home and outside of the district.

Former governance experience includes being a marae trustee and member of various boards and committee’s including the General Synod and Standing Committee of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia; which gives final directive to the St Johns College Trustboard (one of the largest private charitable trusts in NZ.)

Present governance roles include being a current Trustee to the Ngati Pahauwera Development and Tiaki Trust’s, Director of Ngati Pahauwera Commercial Development Limited, Trustee & Chair of the Huramua Marae, Chair of the Wairoa, Mohaka, Waikaremoana Pastorate, Chair of the Kahungunu ki te Wairoa (Maori Anglican) Rohe and representative to the Pihopatanga ki te Tairawhiti AGM and Standing committee.

Lady Tureiti Moxon


Born in Wairoa hospital she grew up in Mohaka and attended Mohaka Native School which later became the Mohaka Primary School. The eldest of twelve siblings she currently resides in Hamilton where she is the Managing Director of Te Kōhao Health, a health, education, social and justice service provider.

Te Kōhao Health has a staff of 170 and services a population of approximately 9,000 people.
Lady Tureiti also has extensive governance experience on both local and national boards and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Tania Hodges

Trustee & Company Director

Tania has iwi affiliations with Ngāti Pāhauwera, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Hauā, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
She is a specialist Consultant, Manager and Director with extensive experience in funding, contracting, strategy, change management, Māori and Iwi relationships, leadership, workforce and community development.

Tania is the Managing Director of Digital Indigenous and has been facilitating leadership training programmes since 2002. Tania holds several governance roles including Ministerial Appointment to the Waikato District Health Board; Deputy Chair of Ngāti Pāhauwera Development and Tiaki Trusts; Director on the Ngāti Pāhauwera Commercial Development Limited and is a Justice of the Peace.

Tania overtime has completed an MBA (with Distinction), BSocSci, Grad Dip Mgmt. St, PGCBR and Grad Dip (Te Reo Māori) to compliment her Registered Psychiatric Nursing qualification (RPN).

Tania is passionate about making a positive difference and strives for excellence in both worlds.
