Cross Claims
A necessary procedure to ensure everyone is represented in our Core Area of Interest. It is also a tool to ensure that no one else trespasses on whenua that they are not entitled to. We have had numerous appointments (that have been cancelled) to meet with our neighbouring whanau/hapu as recently as 22 August 2009. We had planned to meet with them after out Hui-a-iwi. Unfortunately this has been postponed to Friday 28 August 6pm at Petane Marae. It is our desire to meet and find mutual ground where we can all go forward fully represented. You may attend also and bring the wisdom of your nannies with you.
Crown Negotiations
Our team have only one day this month to negotiate with the Crown. It is amazing what one can do in a day. Discussions and solutions include place name changes, pouwhenua/tuahu, fisheries redress, cross claims, Te Puni Kokiri update on Waipapa B3, Statutory Overlay on Te Heru O Tureia, Co-management on the Rivers, Hangi stones and gravel extraction and other General Business.
Hui-A-Iwi
Will be held at Waipapa-A-Iwi Mohaka Marae beginning at 10am, Saturday 22 August 2009. The Trustees present will update you on our Treaty Negotiations. All welcome.
Reminder
- Registrations are vital, as the Crown puts a lot of emphasis on the total number of people in an iwi. This determines the size of the Settlement.
- Whakapapa knowledge is another area you can assist us, in the Cross Claims Challenges and in helping us verify that people who register, are indeed Ngati Pahauwera tuturu.
- Tohu Competition is still open until Monday 31 August 2009. Hurry, hurry, hurry.
