Ngati Pahauwera Treaty Claims
Ngati Pahauwera complaints regarding land and natural resource injustices were expressed in petitions to the Crown representatives as early as the 1860s.The Maori Land Court was set up to administer Maori lands with the express purpose of facilitating alienation of land from Maori at every opportunity. Many of those past issues are now part of the Waitangi Tribunal claims filed on behalf of Ngati Pahauwera.
